Boss Preparation – What to Do Before Any Fight

Before you step into any boss arena in Lunacid, there are a few things you should always do. First, make sure you're stocked up on healing items. Healing Salves (crafted from the recipe in the Library Annex) are your best friend — carry at least five. Second, check your weapon durability. Nothing's worse than your sword breaking mid-fight. Finally, clear the area around the boss room — some bosses have adds that can join the fight if you didn't clear them first.

Also, learn the boss runback. Some bosses have a long walk from the nearest save point. If you die, you'll have to do that walk again. Memorize the route so you can do it on autopilot.

Forgotten Knight – Optional Boss

Location: Forgotten Cistern (lower levels)
Recommended Build: Any melee build with +2 weapon
Difficulty: Easy

The Forgotten Knight is a slow, heavily armored enemy who patrols a large chamber. He's optional but drops the Knight's Greatshield, which is excellent for tank builds.

Attack Patterns

AttackDescriptionCounter
Overhead SlamRaises sword and brings it down slowlyDodge sideways — not backward
Shield BashCharges forward with shield upJump over or dodge to the side
Spin AttackSpins in a circle with sword extendedBack away when you see him start to spin

Strategy: Hit-and-run is the name of the game here. Wait for him to finish his overhead slam, then get in 1-2 hits and back off. Don't get greedy — his spin attack comes out fast and punishes over-aggression. If you have ranged options, you can kite him around the pillars in the room. The Abyssal Dagger can stagger-lock him if you time your hits correctly.

Rewards: Knight's Greatshield (blocks most physical attacks), Knight's Crest (+10% physical damage)

Archivist – Optional Boss

Location: Library Annex (top floor)
Recommended Build: Fast melee build (Abyssal Dagger) with +3 weapon
Difficulty: Medium

The Archivist teleports around the room and summons Animated Books. Kill the books quickly — they explode after a few seconds. The Archivist is vulnerable immediately after teleporting. Rush him during these windows.

Attack Patterns

AttackDescriptionCounter
TeleportVanishes and reappears elsewhereWatch for the sparkle effect — rush to that spot
Book SummonSummons 2-3 Animated BooksKill books immediately (they explode)
Magic BoltFires a slow-moving magic projectileEasy to dodge, keep moving

Strategy: The key is speed. Use the Abyssal Dagger or any fast weapon. When he teleports, immediately sprint to where he appears and land 2-3 hits. When he summons books, kill them first — they explode after 5 seconds and deal significant damage. Don't let the room fill up with books.

Rewards: Observatory Key Fragment, Arcane Shield spell

Pro Tip: The red-robed Mad Scholar that holds the Archivist's Key despawns after you defeat the Library Annex's main boss. Kill him first before progressing.

Mirror Witch – Required Boss

Location: Royal Archive (hidden chamber behind a mirror)
Recommended Build: Fast weapon + ranged option, +3 weapon
Difficulty: Medium

The Mirror Witch is a tricky fight because she summons clones of herself. The room is filled with mirrors, and the clones can appear from any reflective surface.

Attack Patterns

AttackDescriptionCounter
Mirror ShardsFires a spread of glass shardsKeep moving, easy to dodge
Clone SummonCreates 2-3 clones that mimic herLook for the purple aura on the real one
TeleportMoves between mirrorsWatch for ripple effect on mirror surface

Strategy: Focus on the real one. Ignore the clones — they deal minimal damage and disappear after a few hits. Use a fast weapon so you can hit her between teleports. The Abyssal Dagger works great here. When she summons clones, back away and wait for her to reveal herself. Break the mirrors in the room to limit her teleport options — each broken mirror reduces the number of places she can escape to.

Rewards: Observatory Key (required for endgame), Mirror Shard spell

Pro Tip: Break the mirrors in the room to limit her teleport options. Each broken mirror reduces the number of places she can escape to.

Moon Presence – Optional Boss

Location: Moonlit Garden (behind the waterfall)
Recommended Build: Void damage build, +4 weapon
Difficulty: Hard

The Moon Presence is a fast, aggressive boss with a devastating AoE attack. She's optional but drops the Essence of Moonlight, which is required for the secret ending.

Attack Patterns

AttackDescriptionCounter
Claw SwipesFast melee combo (3 hits)Roll through, not away
Moonlight BeamChanneled beam attackSprint perpendicular to the beam
Void AoECharges and explodes (glows white)Sprint away, use Teleport Scroll if needed

Strategy: Stay close to her — her melee swipes are easier to dodge than her ranged magic. When she begins charging the AoE (she glows white), sprint away immediately. Use Moon Dust at the start of the fight for maximum damage. The Void Scythe deals bonus damage here.

Rewards: Essence of Moonlight (secret ending item), Moonlight Blade

Ancient Wyrm – Optional Boss

Location: Echoing Vault (underground lake)
Recommended Build: Ranged or magic build, +4 weapon
Difficulty: Medium-Hard

The Ancient Wyrm is a massive serpent that dwells in a large underground lake. This is a DPS check — the longer the fight goes on, the more likely you are to make a mistake.

Attack Patterns

AttackDescriptionCounter
Poison SprayCone of poison from its mouthStay to the side of its head
Tail SlamRaises tail and slams groundJump over the shockwave
SubmergeDives underwater and movesWatch for ripples to predict surfacing
ChargeLunges forward with mouth openDodge sideways at the last second

Strategy: Ranged weapons are strongly recommended. The Starlight Crossbow or any magic spell lets you damage it while staying out of range of its poison spray. If you're going melee, wait for the tail slam and then attack the tail — it takes extra damage there. Bring Antidotes for the poison.

Rewards: Wyrm Key (opens path to final area), Void Crystals (x2)

Pro Tip: The Ancient Wyrm is optional. You can skip it entirely by using Phase Step to blink through the sealed door to the Observatory Peak. This saves about 15 minutes on a speedrun.

The Collector – Optional Superboss

Location: Observatory Peak (hidden door, requires 30 unique items)
Recommended Build: Hybrid build (Moonlight Blade), +5 weapon, max consumables
Difficulty: Very Hard

The Collector is the hardest optional boss in Lunacid. He's a mysterious NPC who challenges you to a duel in a pocket dimension. The arena is a small, circular room with no cover.

Phase 1 – Swords (100% – 50% HP)

He fights with two swords, using fast combos of 3-4 slashes. Block the first hit, then dodge the rest. His attacks are telegraphed — watch for the wind-up animation.

Phase 2 – Magic (50% – 25% HP)

At 50% health, he switches to magic. He fires homing projectiles and creates area-of-effect explosions. Keep moving constantly. Use the pillars for cover if you need to heal.

Phase 3 – Void Form (25% – 0% HP)

At 25% health, he transforms into a void entity. He becomes immune to physical damage and can only be hurt by magic or void damage. He also gains a life-drain aura. This is where the Moonlight Blade shines — its hybrid damage lets you hurt him in all phases.

Strategy: This fight requires you to be good at everything. You need melee skills for phase 1, mobility for phase 2, and magic for phase 3. Come prepared with high-end gear, plenty of healing items, and both physical and magical weapons. Save your Moon Dust for phase 3.

Rewards: Collector's Soul (required for secret ending), Void Crystals (x2)

Pro Tip: Save your Teleport Scroll for phase 3. If you're low on health when he transforms, you might need to bail out and come back. Also, the Collector's door closes permanently after you defeat the final boss — defeat him first.

Moon Presence – Final Boss

Location: Observatory Peak (end of the game)
Recommended Build: Void damage build, +5 weapon, max healing items
Difficulty: Very Hard

The Moon Presence is the final boss of Lunacid. It's a massive, ethereal entity that fights in a wide-open arena under the night sky. This is the ultimate test of everything you've learned.

Phase 1 – Gravity Orbs (100% – 60% HP)

The boss summons floating orbs that pull you toward them. Destroy the orbs quickly or you'll get dragged into a bad position. The Moonbeam attack sweeps across the arena — keep moving to avoid the glowing patches that explode after a few seconds.

Phase 2 – Lunar Wrath (60% – 30% HP)

At 60% health, the arena changes. The floor becomes cracked and unstable. Parts of the floor will collapse if you stand on them too long. Stay mobile and don't stand in one spot for more than a few seconds.

Phase 3 – Desperation (30% – 0% HP)

At 30% health, it starts spamming all its attacks at once. This phase is chaos. Focus on survival and look for small openings to deal damage. Use Moon Dust here for maximum burst.

Strategy: The Moon Presence is weak to void damage. The Void Scythe or Void Cannon will deal extra damage. In phase 1, stay mobile and destroy the gravity orbs immediately. In phase 2, pay attention to the floor. In phase 3, play defensively. Wait for the moonbeam attack, dodge it, and then get in 1-2 hits before retreating.

This is a marathon, not a sprint. Don't rush. Take your time, learn the patterns, and you'll come out on top.

Rewards: Game completion, access to New Game+

Pro Tip: Equip the Ring of Shadows for this fight. It doesn't affect stealth here, but it gives a small passive health regen that adds up over a long fight. Also, bring at least 10 Healing Salves — you'll need every one.

Frequently Asked Questions – Lunacid Bosses

What is the hardest boss in Lunacid?

The Collector is the hardest boss. He has three phases (melee, magic, and void form) and requires both physical and magic damage to defeat. The final boss (Moon Presence) is the second hardest, especially in phase 3.

What is the best build for boss fights?

The Moonlight Blade build is the best all-around for boss fights because it deals hybrid physical and magic damage. Pair it with high Vitality, the Ring of Shadows, and plenty of Healing Salves. For the final boss, switch to void damage weapons.

How do I beat the Moon Presence (final boss)?

The Moon Presence is weak to void damage. Use the Void Scythe or Void Cannon. In phase 1, destroy gravity orbs immediately. In phase 2, avoid standing on cracked floor. In phase 3, play defensively and punish the moonbeam attack. Bring at least 10 Healing Salves.

Can I skip the Ancient Wyrm?

Yes. The Ancient Wyrm is optional. You can skip it by using Phase Step to blink through the sealed door to the Observatory Peak. This saves about 15 minutes.

What happens if I miss a hidden boss?

Some hidden bosses are permanently missable. The Forgotten Knight's arena becomes inaccessible after the Cistern floods. The Collector's door closes after you defeat the final boss. Defeat them before progressing too far.

How do I unlock The Collector?

Collect 30 unique items in your inventory and approach the hidden bookshelf in the Observatory Peak main chamber. The door only opens if you have 30+ unique items. Every weapon, accessory, spell, and key item counts.

What is the best weapon for the final boss?

The Void Scythe is the best weapon for the final boss because the Moon Presence is weak to void damage. The Moonlight Blade is a good backup for its hybrid damage. Upgrade whichever you choose to +5.

Do bosses respawn in New Game+?

Yes. All bosses respawn in New Game+ with increased health and damage (approximately 50% more). They drop their rewards again, including unique items. This is the only way to get multiple copies of items like the Knight's Greatshield.
