Creature Overview

Enemies in Dread Delusion are divided into natural creatures (animals mutated by the Shattering) and void creatures (beings from beyond reality). Each requires a different approach.

Void Creatures — Beyond Reality

  • Void Shade: Invisible until it attacks. Use Light Orb to reveal it. Weak to holy damage.
  • Reality Tear: A stationary portal that spawns lesser void creatures. Destroy it quickly.
  • Void Walker: A tall, gaunt humanoid that teleports. Predict its teleport location and strike.
  • The Devourer's Spawn: A massive void creature. Requires hit-and-run tactics. Use the environment for cover.

Boss Encounters

  • The Corrupted Knight: Early boss. Slow but hits hard. Learn his three-swing combo pattern.
  • The Void Priestess: Mid-game boss. Summons void creatures. Kill the summons first.
  • The Ancient One: Late-game boss. A massive creature with multiple weak points.

Sanity-Based Enemies

Some enemies in Dread Delusion don't deal physical damage — they drain your sanity. These are among the most dangerous foes in the game.

  • Whisperer: Appears as a shadowy figure. Its whispers drain sanity rapidly. Use earplugs (consumable) to block its effect.
  • Hallucination: Not a real enemy, but your own mind turning against you. If your sanity is low, you may see enemies that aren't there. Check your sanity meter before engaging.
  • Nightmare Wraith: Only appears when your sanity is below 30%. Deals both physical and sanity damage.

For more on the sanity system, see our Dread Delusion Beginner's Guide.

Survival Tips

  • Always carry sanity-restoring items. Low sanity makes you vulnerable to sanity-based enemies.
  • Use the environment. Many enemies can be avoided entirely by taking alternative routes.
  • Elemental weaknesses matter. Void enemies are weak to holy damage. Natural enemies are weak to fire.
  • Don't be afraid to run. Dread Delusion's combat is punishing. Retreat and regroup if you're overwhelmed.
