Getting Started — Your First Hour
Dread Delusion begins with your character waking up in a small cell on the island of Haven. You are a prisoner who has been granted freedom in exchange for undertaking a dangerous mission. Here is exactly what to do in your first hour:
- Speak to the Warden in the cell block office. He will give you your first quest: "Report to the Council."
- Loot the guard room for a Rusty Dagger, a Health Potion, and 15 gold coins.
- Exit the prison and follow the path to the town of Haven's Rest. This is your hub area.
- Visit the Merchant and buy a basic weapon (Iron Sword, 50 gold). Sell any junk items you found.
- Speak to the Council in the town hall. They will explain the main quest and give you your first destination: The Sunken Cathedral.
- Before leaving, explore Haven's Rest thoroughly. There are several side quests and hidden items in the town.
Pro Tip: Talk to every NPC in Haven's Rest before leaving. Several of them give side quests that reward valuable items and experience. The fisherman near the dock gives a quest that rewards a free boat upgrade.
Core Mechanics Explained
Dread Delusion blends open-world exploration with RPG mechanics. Here is what you need to know:
Health & Stamina
Your health bar is displayed at the top left. Health does not regenerate naturally — use Health Potions or rest at inns. Stamina is consumed by sprinting, climbing, and heavy attacks. It regenerates quickly when you stop.
Skills & Leveling
You gain experience by completing quests and defeating enemies. Each level grants one skill point. Skills include: Swordplay, Archery, Magic, Lockpicking, Stealth, and Survival. Invest in Survival early — it increases your carrying capacity and reduces fall damage.
Boat Travel
The shattered isles are connected by boat routes. You start with a small rowboat. Upgrading your boat (via quests or gold) unlocks access to more distant islands. The boat has a health bar — if it takes too much damage from sea creatures, you will sink.
Day & Night Cycle
Some enemies are stronger at night, and some NPCs only appear at certain times. Rest at inns to pass time. Night travel is dangerous — consider waiting until morning.

Island-by-Island Walkthrough
Haven — The Tutorial Island
Key Quests: Report to the Council, The Fisherman's Favor, The Missing Shipment
Enemies: Goblins (low), Giant Rats (low)
Boss: None
Complete all side quests on Haven before leaving. The Missing Shipment quest rewards a Lockpick set and 100 gold. The Fisherman's Favor rewards a boat speed upgrade.
The Sunken Cathedral
Key Quests: Retrieve the Relic of Drowning, The Bell Keeper's Riddle
Enemies: Drowned Soldiers (medium), Water Wraiths (medium)
Boss: The Drowned Priest
The Sunken Cathedral is a partially flooded ruin. The Bell Keeper's Riddle requires you to ring three bells in the correct order: Left, Right, Center. The Drowned Priest is weak to fire — bring Fire Bombs or a Fire Enchantment scroll.
The Crimson Steppes
Key Quests: The Blood Harvest, The Crimson Lord's Demand
Enemies: Crimson Cultists (medium), Blood Beasts (high)
Boss: The Crimson Lord
The Crimson Steppes are a desert of red sand. The Crimson Lord is a fast, aggressive boss. Use the pillars in his arena to block his charge attack. He drops the Crimson Amulet (+20% fire resistance).
The Whispering Woods
Key Quests: The Lost Children, The Heart of the Forest
Enemies: Woodland Spirits (medium), Corrupted Treants (high)
Boss: The Corrupted Heart
The Whispering Woods are a dense forest with limited visibility. Follow the glowing mushrooms to find the path. The Corrupted Heart is a stationary boss that spawns adds. Kill the adds first, then focus on the heart.
The Floating Isles — Final Area
Key Quests: The Council's Final Task, The Shattering
Enemies: Void Walkers (very high), Council Guardians (very high)
Boss: The Void Council (3-phase fight)
The Floating Isles are the endgame area. The Void Council fight has three phases, one for each council member. Phase 1: magic attacks. Phase 2: melee. Phase 3: both simultaneously. Use the environment — the floating platforms provide cover from magic attacks.

10 Essential Beginner Tips
- Save often. Dread Delusion has manual saving. Save before every boat trip and before entering dungeons.
- Upgrade your boat first. A faster boat means safer travel and access to more islands.
- Invest in Survival. The carrying capacity increase is invaluable. You will loot more and travel less.
- Carry a ranged weapon. Some enemies are on elevated platforms or in water. A bow or crossbow saves you from swimming.
- Read quest journals. Quest descriptions often contain hints about puzzle solutions and boss weaknesses.
- Rest before boss fights. Inns restore health and remove negative status effects. Always rest before a major encounter.
- Sell duplicate equipment. You do not need three Iron Swords. Sell them for gold.
- Explore islands thoroughly. Hidden caves, underwater ruins, and secret paths contain valuable loot.
- Use Fire against undead. Fire Bombs and Fire Enchantments deal bonus damage to undead enemies.
- Do not rush the main quest. Side quests provide experience, gold, and equipment that make the main quest much easier.
