Movement Tech — Moonwalking Through Dungeons

Lunacid's movement system is simple but has hidden depth that speedrunners exploit.

Stamina Management

Stamina is your most important resource in a Lunacid speedrun. Sprinting and dodging consume stamina, and running out at the wrong time can cost you minutes. The key is to never let your stamina hit zero. Always keep at least 30% stamina for emergency dodges.

Slope Sliding

If you sprint down a slope, you'll slide and gain momentum. This momentum carries over when you hit flat ground, letting you move faster than normal sprint speed. The best slopes are in the first dungeon — use them to cross large rooms quickly.

Dodge Rolling

Dodge rolling is faster than sprinting over short distances. The roll covers about 5 meters in 0.5 seconds, which is faster than sprinting the same distance. Use dodge rolls to close gaps quickly and to avoid enemy attacks.

Glitch Skip: Wall Clipping

Some walls in Lunacid can be clipped through by sprinting and jumping at a 45-degree angle. This works on about 15% of the walls in the game. The most useful wall clip is in the second dungeon — it lets you skip the entire first floor and go straight to the boss.

Any% Route — Current Meta (WR: 35:20)

The current world record for Lunacid Any% is 35 minutes and 20 seconds. The route has been optimized through dozens of patches.

Phase 1: The Awakening (0:00 – 5:00)

Start by grabbing the basic equipment from the starting area. Grab the sword, the shield, and the healing item. Head straight for the first dungeon. Use slope sliding to cross the starting area quickly.

Phase 2: First Dungeon (5:00 – 12:00)

The first dungeon is straightforward. Follow the linear path, kill the enemies, and reach the boss. The boss is weak to fire — use the fire spell you found in the starting area. The boss has 2 phases. In phase 1, attack from range. In phase 2, the boss charges — dodge and counterattack.

Phase 3: Second Dungeon (12:00 – 22:00)

Use the wall clip skip to bypass the first floor. The second dungeon boss is harder — it has 3 phases. Phase 1: attack the boss directly. Phase 2: destroy the floating orbs that heal the boss. Phase 3: the boss combines both mechanics. Focus on the orbs first, then attack the boss.

Phase 4: Final Dungeon (22:00 – 35:20)

The final dungeon is a gauntlet of enemies and puzzles. The final boss has 3 phases. Phase 1: attack the boss directly. Phase 2: the boss summons minions — kill them quickly. Phase 3: the boss goes berserk — dodge and counterattack.

💡 Pro Tip: The wall clip skip in the second dungeon is the most important time save in the run. Practice it until you can do it consistently. The clip point is in the northeast corner of the first floor, near the broken pillar.

Useful Skips — Complete List

  • Wall Clip (Easy): Sprint and jump at a 45-degree angle into certain walls. Works on about 15% of walls.
  • Boss Skip (Medium): Some bosses can be skipped by running past them and triggering the next area. Works on the first dungeon boss.
  • Item Duplication (Exploit): Drop an item and pick it up during a save load. The item is duplicated. This is a known exploit.
  • Door Skip (Hard): Some locked doors can be opened by attacking them with a heavy weapon. Works on wooden doors.
