Movement Tech — Flying Through the Void
Dread Delusion's movement system is clunky by design, but speedrunners have found ways to make it sing.
Stamina Management
Stamina is the most important resource in a Dread Delusion speedrun. Your sprint and jump consume stamina, and running out at the wrong time can cost you minutes. The key is to never let your stamina hit zero. Always keep at least 20% stamina for emergency jumps.
Slope Sliding
If you sprint down a steep slope, you'll slide and gain momentum. This momentum carries over when you hit flat ground, letting you move faster than normal sprint speed. The best slopes are on the sides of the floating islands. Use slope sliding to cross large distances quickly.
Void Jump
If you jump into the void (the empty space between islands), you have about 3 seconds before you die. During those 3 seconds, you can still move and jump. This lets you reach islands that are normally inaccessible. The trick is to jump at the right angle and use your air control to reach the target island.
Glitch Skip: Wall Clipping
Some walls in Dread Delusion can be clipped through by sprinting and jumping at a 45-degree angle. This works on about 20% of the walls in the game. The most useful wall clip is in the first dungeon — it lets you skip the entire first floor and go straight to the boss.
Any% Route — Current Meta (WR: 28:45)
The current world record for Dread Delusion Any% is 28 minutes and 45 seconds. The route has been optimized through dozens of patches.
Phase 1: The Awakening (0:00 – 5:00)
Start by grabbing the basic equipment from the starting area. Don't explore — just grab the sword and the healing item. Head straight for the first dungeon. Use slope sliding to cross the island quickly.
Phase 2: First Dungeon (5:00 – 12:00)
Use the wall clip skip to bypass the first floor. The boss of the first dungeon is weak to fire — use the fire spell you found in the starting area. The boss has 2 phases. In phase 1, attack from range. In phase 2, the boss charges — dodge and counterattack.
Phase 3: The Open World (12:00 – 22:00)
After the first dungeon, you need to collect 3 key items scattered across the islands. Use void jumps to reach the islands quickly. The key items are: the Crystal Shard (north island), the Ancient Tablet (east island), and the Soul Gem (south island). Each item is guarded by a mini-boss.
Phase 4: Final Dungeon (22:00 – 28:45)
The final dungeon is a gauntlet of enemies and puzzles. Use the key items to unlock the final door. The final boss has 3 phases. Phase 1: attack the boss directly. Phase 2: destroy the floating orbs that heal the boss. Phase 3: the boss combines both mechanics. Focus on the orbs first, then attack the boss.
💡 Pro Tip: The wall clip skip in the first dungeon is the most important time save in the run. Practice it until you can do it consistently. The clip point is in the northeast corner of the first floor, near the broken pillar.
Useful Skips — Complete List
- Wall Clip (Easy): Sprint and jump at a 45-degree angle into certain walls. Works on about 20% of walls.
- Void Jump (Medium): Jump into the void and use air control to reach distant islands. Requires precise timing.
- Boss Skip (Hard): Some bosses can be skipped by running past them and triggering the next area. Works on the first dungeon boss.
- Item Duplication (Exploit): Drop an item and pick it up during a save load. The item is duplicated. This is a known exploit.
