Pacifist Scholar — Knowledge Over Violence
The Pacifist Scholar build focuses on completing Dread Delusion without killing any enemies. This is not a combat build — it is an exploration and dialogue build that requires intimate knowledge of the game's systems.
Stat priority is Willpower and Perception. Willpower keeps your sanity stable during long exploration sessions. Perception helps you spot hidden paths and avoid enemy patrols. You need zero points in combat stats. At level 30, aim for 25 Willpower, 25 Perception, and the rest in Endurance for carrying capacity.
Key items for pacifist runs. The "Cloak of Shadows" (reduces enemy detection range by 50%) is essential. It is found in a hidden chest behind the Church of the Broken God. The "Calm Mind" consumable recipe is your most important tool — it drops enemy aggro and restores sanity. Stock up on Moon Herbs and Pure Water to craft as many as possible. The "Featherlight Boots" (eliminate footstep noise) are found in the starting village's well.
Alternative quest resolutions. Many quests in Dread Delusion can be completed without violence. The "Haunted Mine" quest can be resolved by finding and reading the miner's journal, which reveals the truth about the haunting. The "Cultist Hideout" quest can be completed by sneaking past all cultists and stealing the artifact. The "Eldritch Altar" quest requires you to perform a ritual rather than fight. Always exhaust dialogue options and look for non-violent solutions.
Glass Mage — Maximum Magic, Zero HP
The Glass Mage build sacrifices all survivability for maximum magical damage output. You will die in 2-3 hits, but your spells will obliterate everything before they get close.
Stat allocation is extreme. Put every point into Intelligence and Perception. Intelligence increases spell damage directly. Perception increases crit chance against eldritch enemies. At level 40, aim for 35 Intelligence and 25 Perception. Your HP will be around 150 — most enemies can two-shot you.
Equipment choices. The "Staff of Annihilation" (found in the Eldritch Temple) increases spell damage by 40% but reduces max HP by 30%. The "Amulet of Focus" increases mana regeneration by 50%. The "Robe of the Void" increases spell crit chance by 15%. Your total damage output is roughly 3x a normal mage build, but your survivability is near zero.
Gameplay strategy. Never engage enemies at close range. Use Frost Bolt to slow enemies, then kite them while casting Fire Blast. Always maintain maximum distance. If an enemy gets within melee range, dodge first, then cast. The "Elemental Cascade" combo (Frost Bolt > Lightning Strike > Fire Blast) should be your default engagement pattern. It kills most enemies before they reach you.
Sanity Tank — Embrace the Madness
The Sanity Tank build is the most unconventional playstyle in Dread Delusion. Instead of avoiding sanity loss, you embrace it — using low sanity as a combat advantage.
How it works. At low sanity (below 25%), you gain the "Madness" buff which increases all damage by 30% and attack speed by 20%. The downside is that hallucinations spawn and attack you. But with the right build, you can tank the hallucinations while dealing massive damage to real enemies.
Stat priority is Strength and Endurance. You need high HP to survive both enemy attacks and self-damage from hallucinations. Strength increases your physical damage output. Endurance gives you the HP pool to tank everything. At level 40, aim for 30 Strength, 30 Endurance, and 10 Willpower (you do not need sanity resistance).
Key items. The "Berserker Armor" (increases damage by 20% at low sanity) is found in the Eldritch Temple. The "Ring of Madness" (increases Madness buff duration by 50%) is dropped by a specific eldritch boss. The "Void Greatsword" (deals bonus damage based on missing sanity) is the ideal weapon. With all three, your damage at 10% sanity is roughly 2.5x normal.
Stealth Looter — Never Fight, Always Profit
The Stealth Looter build focuses on maximizing loot acquisition while minimizing combat. You are a ghost — enemies never see you, and you leave every area with maximum loot.
Stat priority is Perception and Dexterity. Perception increases your detection range for traps and hidden items. Dexterity increases movement speed and reduces footstep noise. At level 30, aim for 30 Perception, 20 Dexterity, and 10 Endurance.
Essential equipment. The "Shadow Cloak" (makes you invisible while standing still) is the cornerstone of this build. It is found in the Thieves' Guild hideout. The "Silent Boots" (eliminate all footstep noise) are sold by the traveling merchant. The "Treasure Hunter's Gloves" (increase loot quality by 25%) are found in a hidden chest in the starting village.
Loot routes. Every area has a stealth-optimized loot route that avoids all mandatory combat. The key is learning enemy patrol patterns and using the environment for cover. The "Calm Mind" consumable is essential for dropping aggro if you are spotted. Always have at least 3 Calm Mind consumables before entering a new area.
Pure Support — Buffs, Heals & Utility Only
The Pure Support build is designed for co-op play (if available) or for players who want to maximize their utility contribution. You deal minimal damage but make your allies (or summons) significantly stronger.
Stat priority is Willpower and Intelligence. Willpower increases buff duration. Intelligence increases healing effectiveness. At level 40, aim for 30 Willpower, 25 Intelligence, and 5 in everything else.
Key spells and items. "Blessing of Light" (increases ally damage by 20% for 60 seconds) is your primary buff. "Healing Aura" (heals 10 HP per second in an area) is your primary heal. "Sanity Ward" (prevents sanity loss for 30 seconds) is essential for eldritch areas. The "Support Staff" (increases buff duration by 30%) is found in the Church of the Broken God.
Gameplay loop. Before combat, cast Blessing of Light and Sanity Ward on yourself and any allies. During combat, maintain distance and cast Healing Aura when allies take damage. Use Frost Bolt to slow enemies that get too close. Your role is not to deal damage — it is to ensure your damage dealers can operate at maximum efficiency.
