Physics Glitches
Physics glitches are the most common issues in Dread Delusion. Here's how to deal with them.
Falling Through the World
Sometimes you can fall through the geometry of an island. This happens most often near the edges of islands. The fix: if you fall through, you'll respawn at the last safe position. To avoid it, don't walk too close to the edges of islands.
Getting Stuck in Geometry
You can get stuck in rocks, trees, and buildings. This is caused by the game's collision detection failing. The fix: use the "Unstuck" option in the pause menu. This teleports you to the nearest safe position.
Void Death Glitch
Sometimes you die instantly when entering the void, even if you have full health. This is caused by a desync between your position and the void's damage zone. The fix: save before attempting void jumps. If you die instantly, reload and try again.
Save Issues
Save issues can be frustrating, especially in a game with limited autosave points.
Save File Corruption
Dread Delusion saves can become corrupted if the game crashes during a save. The game creates backup saves automatically. If your save is corrupted, navigate to %appdata%/DreadDelusion/saves/ and look for .bak files. Delete the corrupted .sav file and rename the .bak file to .sav.
Lost Progress After Crash
Dread Delusion autosaves at specific points: when you enter a new area, when you complete a quest, and when you pick up key items. If the game crashes, you might lose progress since the last autosave. Manually save before risky encounters.
Save Not Loading
Sometimes a save file won't load. This is usually caused by a mod conflict. Disable all mods and try loading the save again. If the save still won't load, it's corrupted and you'll need to use a backup.
Performance Issues
Dread Delusion is not well-optimized, especially on older hardware.
Low FPS on Floating Islands
The floating islands have the most draw calls in the game, which can cause FPS drops. Lower the draw distance to Medium and disable shadows. This should bring your FPS back up.
Stuttering When Loading Areas
Stuttering when loading new areas is caused by the game loading assets. Install Dread Delusion on an SSD to reduce loading times and stuttering.
Memory Leak
Dread Delusion has a known memory leak that causes the game to use more RAM over time. After about 2 hours of play, the game will start stuttering and eventually crash. The fix: restart the game every 2 hours to clear the memory.
Quest & NPC Bugs
Quest and NPC bugs can prevent you from completing the game.
NPC Not Spawning
Sometimes an NPC doesn't spawn at their designated location. This is caused by the NPC spawn system failing. The fix: save and reload. The NPC should spawn when you reload.
Quest Item Not Appearing
If a quest item doesn't appear in its designated location, leave the area and come back. The item should spawn when you re-enter the area.
Dialogue Loop
Some NPCs get stuck in a dialogue loop, repeating the same line over and over. The fix: leave the area and come back. The NPC's dialogue should reset.
🏆 Final Pro Tip: The memory leak is the most serious bug in Dread Delusion. Set a timer for 1 hour 45 minutes when you start playing. When the timer goes off, save and restart the game. This prevents crashes and keeps performance stable.
